Western Canada Fashion Week show review

All dressed up and ready for a great show, I took my seat with eager anticipation. They really cracked down on photo taking due to copy writing, so I could only snap a few :'(.

They all showed current stock- FW2014, 😕 perhaps I missed the spring show on another day during the week but it somewhat disappointing to me as I was looking for SS2015. I do appreciate they are trying to showcase current inventory so I made the best of it.

First up was the Old Strathcona Clothing retailers. The best of the group was, no surprise, Bamboo Ballroom. They showed a great cashmere/wool wrap coat in bone. It was lovely and the greige oversized clutch was gorgeous.

Cutest of the evening was Clear Innocence Clothing Boutique from St. Albert. Great styling for all the kids in fall trends. I will have to check them out for my son.

Derk’s dressed the celebrity male models. They all looked great.

But Simons for the ladies celebrities was disappointing…hard for me to say because I LOVE Simons! The whole “modern 1940’s” styling did not work. The wrap fur stole is dead….please let it rest. And crushed velvet does not flatter ANYONE. EVER.

The surprise of the evening was Nazila Couture. Wow, beautiful saris and anarkali’s. The bead work is unbelievable. And, I am not sure if she makes her own jewelry or is a just a retailer but seriously some of the most beautiful chandelier earrings and bracelets I have ever seen.

Overall a good show but would have preferred SS2015 instead. 💋

Amazing fashion ensues!

My girlfriends are all departing to Vegas in the next 2 days- sans moi, how rude! While they are ditching me for greener pastures, I still love them and am happy to help them solve their fashion dilemma- how to dress fall season appropriate in +30 C temperatures.

Those of us in Canada, depending on where you live, we usually transition nicely into cozy sweaters and boots by October, so it’s hard to wrap your head around dressing “fall” while not. There are some great ways to incorporate season appropriate styles in your fall fashion wardrobe. A few thoughts to keep in mind:

• look for fall colors in lightweight fabrics
• layer cardis, shirts, jackets, scarfs that are also lightweight when you can
• stay away from neons and overly summery fabrics like eyelet and linen and brightly colored florals
• embrace open toed shoes, shooties, and sandals in dark colors

MUFE Rouge Artist Natural N9 Review + Swatches Redux

Say Hello to Gorgeous

I am a people pleaser. So when I saw that my review of MUFE Rouge Artist Natural N9 was my most searched for, most viewed and most shared post, I knew I had to do something. See, I was a little new to blogging when I wrote that post, and it’s not quite as thorough or easy to read as I would like. So without further ado, here is my new review of MUFE Rouge Artist Natural N9.

MUFE N9 Lipstick

Color: Makeup Forever describes this color as a “copper pink.” I’ve said before that copper pink is a difficult color for me to picture. I would describe this color as a very natural, medium-dark muted pinkish-red. It is a few shades darker than my natural lip color, but I would say that they are tonally similar (See comparison swatches). It has medium to opaque pigment

For comparison, here are my lips without lipstick For comparison, here are my lips without…

Falling in love with Fall Florals

Florals for fall are dreamy. I love these pants with the bold print, while I do know that my hourglass shape struggles with full volume pants but with the right loose fit and a body skimming top it brings my lines back into proportion. And who doesn’t love a wool hat???

Luckily for all of you shoe enthusiasts, the fall runways were awash in some seriously lust worthy options. One of our favorite trends of the season is over-the-knee boots. The trend made an appearance on the runway at Salvatore Ferragamo, where the boots came in brown and black options with a chunky heel and a buckle at the ankle. Roland Mouret showed S&M-inspired thigh-grazing versions of over-the-knee boots with sky-high stilettos, and at Fendi the over-the-knee boots that hit the runway were made in luxe calf-hair. The…
